Islamabad—Massive anti-India demonstrations were held in Sopore, Tral and Handwara areas in occupied Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, scores of people took to streets in the apple town Sopore and staged pro-freedom demonstrations. The people chanting “Hum kia chahtey Azadi” and anti-India slogans tried to march towards the main Chowk.

But the Central Reserve Police Force and policemen deployed in the area stopped them by using brute force.

Hundreds of people held protests at Dadsaroo, Lurgam, Pushtoona, Gulshan Pora and Khrew in Tral against the razing of residential houses to the ground by Indian troops during the 28-hour violent military operations.

The protestors said that a Masjid and other houses were also damaged during the operation in which four Kashmiri youth were martyred and three troopers including an army captain were killed. “The troopers blasted the houses by planting heavy explosives causing damage to many houses around,” the protestors said.

Later, thousands of people, raising pro-liberation slogans, participated in the funeral procession of the martyred youth. Meanwhile, protests were also held against the excesses by Indian army and paramilitary forces in Handwara. —APP
